a truth is a spike made of iron
when it is newly cast
it glows and it will burn you
if you take hold of it too soon
without care or tool
you can take a hammer to it
and drive it into your heart
and kill yourself with it
or you can take a hammer to it
and fashion it into a plate
that with others, will protect you
in the many battles to come
and in that, the iron spikes of truth
are like all of man's creations
the ones you can touch
and those you cannot
they can be used
to preserve and enhance life
or extinguish it
