Bush in the WH effort to cover-up the full scope of the "smear Joe Wilson, scare other potential 'whistleblowers', blind the CIA's Iran/nuclear weapons research, and thwart by delay a major threat to W's re-election" conspiracy. (which worked like a charm by hiding themselves behind subservient "reporters" first-amendment privileges)
